me and my kids {a maternity shoot}

So, its almost time. And we are all very excited! This is the boy and the bump at almost 38 weeks. Never include my self in my photographs but have challenged my self to try harder this year. So here’s the first of hopefully many ‘me and my kids’ and its my very own maternity shoot; of me, by me:)

Snow day = Pirate day

Its been snowing A LOT here in Cardiff – which is very unusual… so schools have been closed all around and we’ve had to come up with home activities. A big part of today the boy was a Pirate. And i took a lot of photos:)

The big boy

We are all waiting… and waiting! only two weeks to go now till we’ll be a family of 4 but in the mean time the big boy has started nursery school – and wait for it; he actually loves it! No more teary mornings dropping him off to the private nursery.. now its just fun filled afternoons:) Oh! and then he’s had a haircut, so all in all, a good time to stop and take a few snaps of him before it all changes – again.

week 21

its week 21 and its getting pretty hard to keep finding new ways of photographing the boy! (but guess that’s the whole point – so that i push my self to find new ways to photograph!)

In week 21 the boy decided to act his age – ie. join the ‘terrible twos’! There has been many arguments this week and lots of wanting to shout and scream at him…but then i called my mum instead;) “just keep strong, keep showing him you are the boss” and by the end of the week it was much better… i may have won the battle, but im sure the war is not over yet.

So this week I tried to have a few activities inbetween where we could calm down and do something he really enjoys – like water play in the sink:)

We also started potty training (on the happy days!) and so far its ok…. i’ve only taken his nappy of when at home and not pushing him too much as he’s still not totally aware when things are happening but im easing him into it.

Sunday afternoon, though, I just needed to get him out of the house(!) so we met with a couple of friends in the park for a walk and cake – good finish to the week:)

week 20

So im almost up to date now on this little project:) I’ve also got a little new baby and a beautiful registry office wedding to share(!)

For this week it was all about getting back to a normal routine. The weather was lovely so one night we went forĀ  a little walk before bedtime – LOVE THE LIGHT:) There was also a naked day. On his behalf – not mine! It was great as it meant he did really well on the potty (too much info but im a proud mummy!)

The weekend was kicked in with his very first sleepover. Connie (his very best friend from the day they were born – only 5 days apart) It went really well even though Tobias was a bit ill and spend the most of the time sleeping, but when he was awake they did really well:) There’ll hopefully be lots more to come!

Week 18 [personal]

Better try catch up a bit in this project:)

For week 18, we came back from Florida, was home for 2 nights and then off to Denmark for my mum’s 60th birthday! It was hard. Very hard. Not only was I working the day job Monday and Tuesday so the boy was in nursery but we were struggling with jet lag and the poor little man couldn’t work out WHERE in the world he was… But it was totally worth it:)

We had SUCH a lovely time! Tobias played with his cousin who is exactly 9months younger than him and they were racing around in their little cars and running around in my mum and dad’s amazing garden.

We got to meet the newest family member -my brothers little girl, Line, who is tiny and cute and had lots of cuddles from me and lots of head stroking from Tobias.

It was great to see the family again (as always) and the birthday party went really well:)

Tobias had the nursery bear ‘Barneby Bear’ for the weekend which was ‘great’ as we had to find space in the suitcase for him and his clothes too;)

an instagram catchup

as we are off on holiday on Saturday I’m trying to round things up and make sure everything is double backed up – including my personal pictures!

I love taking photos on my iphone4 – and now with Instagram, its even better! I’ve always got my phone on me so its very easy to snap those little moments that would have been lost if you had to wait and get out the big camera:)

When looking at these pictures i feel proud. He’s such a lovely little man. He’s good at lots of things, and he takes pride in what he does. He loves his friends and he loves playing with his toys. He’s got a fantastic imagination and he’s just strait up handsome! Dont get me wrong – he can make me wanna rip my hair out and just sit down and cry, but its all part of it all right? But most of the time I just wanna hold on to him till he says “mummy im stuck!”

Here’s a little round up of April with a few of the shots from the past 4 weeks… stay tuned for the holiday pictures! As Tobias says “we’re going to America on a BIG airplane to see Mickey Mouse – he lives in a castle! and we are gonna see whales, and penguins and cars in a pond (not sure about the last one..!)

personal project 52

For the lovely new followers on my little blog, this is a project i began in January for two reasons; 1. to push my self as a photographer, and 2. to depict a year in my son’s life and his development.

This is week 15 (slightly behind!)
He had a fun play-date with two of his friends – Connie and Dai – at Connies house (he LOVES it there!)
They played football, dug in the mud and found lots of wriggly worms:)

When we got home, our new ground floor doors were finished and I’m loving how you can peek into the room without Tobias noticing you…

Ali + Ben {married}

This was my first wedding of 2012. And it was a beauty! Amazing people, amazing church, amazing venue. The only thing that was not amazing; was the weather! Hard core rain all. day. long. But Ali and Ben was great and not afraid of getting the wellies and umbrellas out:)

We started with the girls getting ready at a relative’s house in Clifton, Bristol. It was a relaxed morning with the most calm bride I’ve ever seen, and the wonderful Ellie Jones (cardiff) did the girls hair while they got ready.

We then got off to the grand Woodlands Church in Clifton where Ben was waiting. It was a lovely and funny ceremony by Pastor Nigel Savage.
After a few shots at the church it was off across the Somerset country side to the beautiful Coombe Lodge in Bagdon.

We managed a few rainy shots outside but had to make a run for it when turned torrential!

It was such a beautiful day and I’m so grateful for Ali and Ben to have chosen me as their photographer.
I know they’ll have a wonderful life together:)

Here’s a few of the photos from the day while i finish of the rest for them. Hope you’ll like them:)
